Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s 15-Year-Old Son Faces New Revelations at Bond Hearing

The legal case against Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak and retired NFL linebacker Kroy Biermann, took a significant turn this week. During a Fulton County bond hearing, prosecutors disclosed that KJ had already been under court supervision since October 2025 in connection with a separate case — one that had not previously been made public.

The Original Case: Seven Felony Counts

KJ was indicted on seven felony counts stemming from an alleged assault on a female classmate, also 15, inside a changing area at a Life Time Fitness gym in Alpharetta on April 23. The charges include aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, false imprisonment, and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16. He was arrested on August 17 and has been held at Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since then.

What Came Out at the Bond Hearing

Friday’s hearing was scheduled to decide whether KJ would be released on bond while his case proceeds. Instead, it revealed far more than expected. Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy told the court that investigators had previously found videos on KJ’s phone allegedly showing him with a relative under the age of 12, and said the recordings included what she described as “predatory, derogatory” language directed at that family member.
McGillicuddy said the earlier case involving the relative was first reported in 2023 and had placed KJ under court supervision starting in October 2025 — meaning he was already being monitored by the court at the time of the alleged gym incident in April. She told the judge this marked the second time KJ has faced allegations of a serious sexual nature.

Arguments Over Bond

Prosecutors argued against releasing KJ at all, pointing out that the classmate involved in the April incident suffered documented physical injuries. If the judge did decide to grant bond, they asked that it be set at $190,000.
Defense attorney Jason Sheffield pushed back, requesting a lower bond of $65,000 and arguing that his client could be safely supervised at home by his mother, who is currently unemployed and available to monitor him. Sheffield described KJ as quiet rather than confrontational, and said the ordeal had been deeply traumatic for him personally. He maintains that KJ is innocent of the charges tied to the classmate’s allegations.
Regarding the separate case involving the young relative, Sheffield said he had not personally reviewed that evidence but characterized the earlier incident as “boundary-crossing inappropriate” behavior that had already been addressed through counseling, rather than any formal finding of a comparable serious offense.
A written statement from the classmate at the center of the original indictment was also read aloud in court. In it, she said she had been living in fear because of alleged threats that KJ would retaliate if released, and asked the judge to weigh her safety in the decision.

Kim Zolciak’s Response

Kim Zolciak has firmly denied the allegations against her son, calling them “reckless and deeply troubling.” She has said KJ voluntarily took a polygraph test that he passed, and that DNA testing turned up no evidence linking him to the alleged gym assault.

Where the Case Stands Now

The judge, Melynee Leftridge, ultimately granted KJ bond, reportedly set at $200,000. As part of the release conditions being discussed, prosecutors indicated he would not be permitted contact with anyone under 16 — a restriction that would extend even to his younger siblings — while the case continues to move through the court system. KJ’s defense team is also seeking to have the case transferred to juvenile court, arguing he was 14 at the time of the alleged gym incident.
