Linda Noskova Wins Wimbledon at 21, Beats Compatriot Muchova in All-Czech Final

Linda Noskova is a Grand Slam champion. The 21-year-old Czech player beat Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in an all-Czech Wimbledon final on Saturday to win her first major title. The match lasted two hours and 28 minutes.
Princess of Wales Kate Middleton was in the Royal Box to present the Venus Rosewater Dish. So was Martina Navratilova, who won Wimbledon nine times. And Petra Kvitova, who won it twice. They watched Noskova become the youngest Wimbledon women’s champion in 15 years.

How It Went

Noskova controlled the first set completely. She won it 6-2 and looked like she was going to cruise through the match.
The second set was different. Muchova dug in. Noskova had five match points and couldn’t convert a single one. Muchova saved all five and won the set 7-5. In a Grand Slam final, on the biggest stage she had ever played on, Noskova lost the second set after dominating for most of the afternoon.
She came back anyway. The third set went 6-3 to Noskova. She won the title.

Third Czech in Four Years

Noskova is the third Czech woman to win Wimbledon in four years. Marketa Vondrousova won it in 2023. Barbora Krejcikova won in 2024. Now Noskova in 2026. Czech women’s tennis is not producing champions by accident.
Noskova and Muchova played doubles together at the Paris Olympics in 2024. They finished fourth. On Saturday, they were on opposite sides of the net in the Wimbledon final.

What She Said

“I don’t know what to say. I played so well and then I had five match points and I couldn’t finish it,” Noskova told the crowd after the match. “But I kept fighting and I’m so happy I did.”

The men’s final is Sunday. World number one Jannik Sinner defends his Wimbledon title against French Open champion Alexander Zverev.
Noskova goes home a Grand Slam champion.
