Fitness Influencer Connor Murphy, 32, Found Dead in Thailand Lake After Erratic Episode

Connor Murphy is dead. The American fitness influencer and YouTuber was found in a lake at a luxury residential estate in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand on Tuesday. He was 32 years old.
Thai police and rescue workers recovered his body roughly 20 meters from shore after divers searched the lake for about 30 minutes. An initial examination found no signs of assault. Authorities sent the body for autopsy and toxicology testing. No official cause of death has been announced.

What Happened Before He Entered the Water

The emergency call came around 3 p.m. local time on July 7. Neighbors reported a man screaming from inside Murphy’s rented home. When police arrived, Murphy ran out of the house, fled through the residential village, and jumped into a lake on the property.
Witnesses said he swam until he became exhausted and disappeared beneath the surface. The water was more than 10 meters deep. Rescue divers had to be called in because officers could not recover the body themselves.
Before jumping into the lake, Murphy had been behaving strangely for hours. He returned to the neighborhood by taxi and tried to give the driver 1,000 Thai baht to keep driving. The driver refused. Murphy then knocked on a nearby car asking for a ride. The security guard told the driver not to let him in. Murphy then shouted, rolled on the pavement, and appeared to be praying with his hands raised.
Police Captain Weeraphong Rupsuay said Murphy “suddenly became frantic without warning.”

What Was Found

Investigators searched the luxury lakeside home Murphy had been renting for about two months — valued at around $600,000. The house had been vandalized. Black and yellow paint had been splashed across furniture, walls, decorations, and electrical appliances throughout the property.
In Murphy’s car, police found two unused syringes. In a waist bag, they found unidentified white pills. Authorities said those items do not establish a cause of death on their own.
Murphy’s girlfriend, a 22-year-old woman identified only as Bee, told police she had never seen him use drugs during the time they lived together. She said his behavior that day was completely out of character. The couple had been together for about three years, had spent time apart due to lifestyle differences, and had reunited a few months before the incident.

Around 2020 and 2021, followers noticed a shift in his content. He began posting about spirituality, meditation, prolonged fasting, and personal awakening experiences. Many expressed concern online as his videos became increasingly unusual.
