Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from Bunnie XO. The papers were filed on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee. The news stayed quiet for nearly a month before breaking publicly on Sunday.
According to TMZ, both sides describe it as a mutual decision and a private family matter. Neither has commented publicly.
The two met in 2015 at one of Jelly Roll’s early shows at a Las Vegas venue. At the time, he was broke, living out of a conversion van, still carrying the weight of a criminal past that included prison time for robbery and drug charges. Bunnie later told Howard Stern she was drawn to him because he had “the saddest eyes in the room.” They married in a secret Las Vegas courthouse ceremony in August 2016 — no friends, no family. They renewed their vows at the same chapel in 2023.
In February, just four months before the filing, Jelly Roll won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Country Album. He stood on stage and gave Bunnie credit for helping him become the person he is. She was in the audience, crying, clapping. Nobody watching that moment would have guessed what was coming.
This was not their first rough patch. Bunnie revealed in her memoir that the two separated in 2018 after she discovered Jelly Roll had been unfaithful. She wrote about the pain of that discovery in detail.
Jelly Roll confirmed the affair publicly in October 2025 on the Human School Podcast, calling it “one of the worst moments of his adulthood.” Bunnie defended her decision to stay at the time. “It actually takes a stronger woman to confront pain directly, put in the effort, and rebuild with the man she loves,” she said.
Apparently, the rebuild didn’t hold.
In February 2026 — the same month as the Grammys — Bunnie posted on Instagram that the two were hoping to have twins via surrogate. She has two stepchildren from Jelly Roll’s previous relationships: Bailee, 15, and Noah, 7. The surrogacy plan is now off the table.
Hours before the divorce news broke, Bunnie posted a boudoir photo on Instagram with the caption: “She’s getting her sparkle back.” She also posted a TikTok lip-syncing to Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me” — specifically the lines about waiting for an apology that never came.
She has not said anything directly about the split.
Jelly Roll’s public image has always been built around honesty, redemption, and loyalty. Bunnie has been part of that story at every step. How fans respond to this — and whether it affects his career — remains to be seen.
Court documents confirm the filing. The divorce is moving forward.
